Over the past 11 years I've immersed myself in the wonderful world of plant-based living all thanks to the incredible vegan recipes and cooking skills of Christina. What initially drew me in was the health aspect, especially since I'm a bit older and firmly believe that retirement is not for me. Instead, I'll be dedicated to serving disadvantaged teens until my last breath.
In 2016, we kick-started 33 Sojourners LLC (the parent company of Graceful Pause) as a means to provide funds and resources for the 70-80 students I teach each school year. As a special education teacher in a bustling urban school system, I witness countless unmet needs among my students. Fortunately, with our financial resources and the support of various school activities, Christina and I are able to lend a helping hand. From stocking a class refrigerator with vegan snacks, non-sugary drinks, and an abundance of fresh fruit, to organizing after-school leadership activities and exploring the world of vegan cuisine, we strive to make a positive difference.

Three years ago, we forged a partnership with Young Life, a Christian organization that mentors high school children and college students. Together, we facilitate an annual summer camp held at various private facilities, where underprivileged inner-city children can experience a five-star-style resort. This camp not only provides them with unforgettable memories but also exposes them to a spiritual lifestyle focused on personal growth and non-judgement.
We have been fortunate enough to be able to provide the necessary resources for my students to attend these life-changing summer camps. However, the demand keeps growing, and more and more students yearn for this opportunity. That's where Graceful Pause comes in. Through our collective efforts, we fundraise, mentor entrepreneurship, and develop financial strategies, all while promoting a sustainable planet and preventing animal cruelty.
What started as a passion project with a clear purpose has blossomed into something much greater. Our goal is to continue serving an increasing number of students each year while also introducing the online community to a wide range of products and foods that are steadily gaining popularity.
